How to Change a VN Memcal (Chip)

Firstly locate the ECM

The Engine Control Module (ECM), is located
behind the front left hand cowl (kick) trim panel

Remove the kick trim to expose the ECM

After disconnecting the two connectors remove the two philips head screws holding the ECM to the panel, you will have the ECM looking like this on the table.


Then turn the ECM over.

 

Undo the two 1/4 inch screws holding the end cap on to reveal the Memcal

Hold the ECM in both hands.

With your thumbs push the two retaining clips apart, this will lift the memcal out of its socket.

Even though it will only go in one way, 

Take note of the orientation of the memcal.

 

Carefully lift the memcal out of the ECM.

Place the new memcal in the socket gently pressing it in

 

 

Press the memcal in fully until the two retaining clips click back into it.

 

 

Put the endcap back on & refit the ECM to the car, 

refit the two connectors & the kick trim.

How to Change a VT Memcal (Chip)

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM), is located
behind the front left hand cowl (kick) trim panel

Remove the kick trim to expose the PCM


Then remove the PCM from its Bracket

Then undo the two T15 TORX screws to reveal the Memcal

Remove the Memcal & fit your new one.

Refit all parts & enjoy.
